Abandoned College
Dreams about people I remember (especially from school) are always the most polarizing. On the one hand, sometimes it’s nice to remember some faces to people I couldn’t even name on the top of my head because I’m terrible with remembering people’s name. No kidding, I’m not even certain, I can even spell my crush’s name because I don’t even know which vowel is in her name. I recall looking at a year book from that time while she was in school and they butchered her name in the yearbook from what I remember (Because we both worked together in the same class and band and at the time, I was somewhat familiar with her name). I think my school has a problem with students making spelling mistakes across the board. Just look at me! HAHA! But I’m talking about her specifically because she was in this dream too and it was incredibly strange and somewhat frightening as to what happened.
In this dream, I was just suddenly spawned into this empty classroom. It was like one of those science laboratories you would have in high school but this had to be a college because I can look out the window and notice that I’m several stories above. More than three stories high. Far more actually. It’s like a mid-way between the afternoon and night in this dream. The sky looks pink outside in the horizon but it’s always gray, cloudy and kind of moody looking out there; especially with the other tall buildings/classrooms I can see out the window. It all sort of looks like Eastern European commie blocks but this is a university campus. Everything just looks kind of old too. The desks are dusty and falling apart, there’s a chalk board instead of the typical whiteboard you would have in modern classrooms and it all looks like it’s straight out of a horror game.
I exit out of the classroom, with the urge to find my way out of here. The hallways are just these long narrow corridors that just fade into darkness. There’s no lighting other than some windows here and there, letting some ambient light from outside leak in. The hallways have carpet floors but it’s like a musky looking velvet red and the walls are concrete which doesn’t look like they would contrast well. At some point while I was navigating these empty halls, I find an old fashion elevator door. It was like the ones you would see in an old hotel with brass accents. Something with a bit of Art Decco look. Oddly enough, it’s still operational. The little lights on it are on and everything, so I figured I might as well use it get to the ground level. Normally, I’m not afraid of elevators but those with a glass exterior really make me uncomfortable and this one was one of the worst. The elevator had this glass exterior that would let you see the outside completely as the elevator was located on the exterior of the building, if that makes sense. Point is, you can see outside from head to toe in that elevator and that keeps me hanging close to the elevator door when I’m inside because I’m horrified by heights. It’s my only phobia which I thankfully don’t have to deal with often in real life.
I click the first floor button on the elevator panel inside and before the doors to the elevator can close, a girl I recognized all to well walks right in with me. You probably already know who she is considering I mentioned her before getting to the details of this dream but she looked exactly as I remembered, especially with my other dreams with her (Skinny athletic, about my height if not slightly taller, shortish brown hair, and she’s wearing the most basic outfit which consist of a white t-shirt and some blue shorts and running shoes. She looks at my direction and smiles at me once we’re both in the elevator but doesn’t say anything once the elevator door closes and we start to descend. Sounds rather uneventful until...
Just in a matte of seconds, the elevator stalls completely. It doesn’t get anywhere close to the first floor when it stalls on it’s way down. I’m starting to feel a bit of panic as it’s just the two of us in this elevator and I have not seen anyone else outside or in this multi-story building. Then the elevator starts ascending up, far to quickly to my discomfort and I can feel the weight of gravity pulling my weight on the floor. My crush is also starting to panic as she grips onto the hand rail as I do. We’re both hanging on tightly when the elevator stalls again, this time we are both at the very upper floors. And just like that, I can hear the cables snap and our elevator ride starts falling down in a linear path all the way down to the ground. We’re both screaming and both hudled away from the glass side of the elevator, sticking to the door as much as possible. It feels horrible to be inside a falling elevator and it takes a long while for the elevator to finally impact the ground. The glass side completely shatters and the elevator itself bends and breaks off from the building, somehow making itself thrown several feet away with us inside and being thrown out of it. To our surprise, neither of us were injured other than being throw out into the open and the two of us separate and run off to our own ways, without saying a word to each other. My dream ends on that note and I never found a way out of that creepy campus until I was able to wake up.
