A Helping Hand
I’ve been sick with a really bad stomach flu for the past two days. I wasn’t able to keep food or water in without puking, my head was in severe pain all around my skull, my skin was burning, and I was aching all over. Despite being bedridden for the first two days, I couldn’t sleep. The second day was a slight improvement over the first day as I was able to try to eat and drink water. I ate some white rice and not even an entire bowl. Only like 1/4th of it before I got really dizzy, threw it up and went back to laying on my bed in agony. Throwing up did help get rid of the fever and nausea but it was making me very dehydrated. I had to take little sips of warm water to not upset my stomach. At some point during the night, I finally felt all my pain, nausea, and fever disappear and I was in a deep sleep.
I was at some parking lot on a cloudy day, just right outside some bus station. I’ve been to bus stations like this before when I was in Uni. I didn’t have a car at the time so I would have to travel home using one of those greyhound buses. Those trips have been mixed in my experience. Sometimes you’d get a good bus and it felt like coming home from a marching band trip. There was one time where the AC on the bus wasn’t working and I had to ride 7 hours back home without any AC. I don’t recall getting sick from the ride. I had the window open like everyone else and it was bearable. I’m getting off topic. I was getting ready to get into my car and drive off from the parking lot when I realized I forgot my backpack at the bus station. This actually never happened in real life but It was enough to make me panic a little. I just assumed I’d find it wherever I was sitting in the terminal waiting area or whatever you call it. I start heading back to the bus station. The area I’m in seems kind of gloomy, but not in a bad way. It’s definitely an urban area but I didn’t feel unsafe or any sense of dread going back to the station to pick up my missing backpack. There’s a sidewalk path that trails from the parking lot to the station which is this modern glass building that’s kind of tall for what it is. Kind of a nice looking bus station compared to the typical ones you come across. Seems pretty barren in this dream as I don’t notice a lot of people around. The main “hub” area where you wait for your bus is all glass so you can see it from the outside and there’s only a few people around. It won’t be difficult to find my backpack there.
I was suddenly sidetracked when a girl who I didn’t realize was behind me, slipped and fell on her palm on the sidewalk. She lifted her hand and it was mildly scrapped from the pavement and some pebble rocks which happened to be on the sidewalk. I heard her groaning in pain and turned around to see if she’s okay.
“Are you alright? I didn’t see you there.”
“I’m bleeding from my hand.”
“I think there’s an emergency center at the bus station. I might know where it is.”
“Can I tag along with you?”
“Sure. Why not? They can probably bandage you up there.”
Despite being in pain, she seemed pleased to be in my company, which is incredibly unrealistic but I’ll roll with it because I’ve been severely sick. She looked kind of familiar. She was a blonde girl with a volleyball player physique. Normally I don’t have an affinity for blondes but she seemed nice looking. Kind of reminded me of a girl who smiled at me while I was grocery shopping a while ago but this one could be different so who knows. I don’t know why she would even bother trusting me of all people but I was aware of an emergency room in the bus station. It was in a little hallway that had a sandwich shop and a kiosk to buy bus tickets. There’s another hallway that’s more narrow and sketchy looking but it’s a stall only area and in that hallway, there’s a little nurse place similar to those you’d find at school. I don’t think most bus stations in real life have them but this place did. I take her over to this place and a female staff member confronts the two of us. She shows her hand and they take her into the room. She tells me to wait for her once she’s taken care of. So I stand outside of the hallway and look out towards the main hub. There’s some army guys in OCP camo walking in a group like they did in that sad excuse of a military parade back in june. They were not in deployment by the looks of it. More than likely going to the sandwich shop for that sweet veteran’s discount if I had to take a guess. While I’m waiting for this girl to get patched up, I somehow forgot about my backpack and how I was supposed to retrieve it but that never got resolved because my dream ended the moment I woke up. I was still feeling dizzy and not well on the third morning but I was able to have the energy to drink water and eat normally. I think my dream helped my spirits quite a lot from those awful days.
