RIP Glock (The Company)

How is it that despite having a conservative majority in the house, senate, judicial branch, and executive branch, all of a sudden, gun companies start to drop like flies or in the worst case, betray their customers. Anderson Manufacture was going through some financial issues and ended up being bought out by Ruger, losing the poverty pony branding entirely (RIP). Aero Precision was going through some financial and quality control difficulties despite being the best bang for your buck in terms of AR-15 parts and accessories (RIP potentially).
For those companies that are still around, Ruger itself is mostly fine (Bill Ruger's fudd views died along with him in the 90s) but they have mentioned about supporting in a court hearing after the Uvalde School Shooting (The event where those who were supposed to serve and protect didn’t do jack shit and those who argue for a disarmed populace want them to be armed?!) alongside Daniel Defence. The LCP pistols are known to rust for some reason but I always keep my guns oiled (Minor S as in spit). S&W took away the Clinton locks on their revolvers so that's a step in the right direction. I heard mixed experiences about their customer service as either being amazing or outright dismissive. The M&P Line of pistols are a solid alternative to Glock in terms of reliability and functionality (The topic of this blog btw). Remmington has been bankrupt numerous times from the beginning of this century and their quality control has dropped especially when they are owned by Freedom Group (alongside Marlin and the like) so I can't say if they are still a good brand. Mossberg seems fine. I can't say much about their post 2020 products but my Maverick 88 has been extremely reliable, and just werks. Not as good as a 500 series but reasonably good enough.
Now for the real shit head companies. I hope this one isn't true but rumor has it that Colt Canada (Colt as a brand is owned by CZ) was contracted by the Canadian government to destroy firearms confiscated from the civilian population. If this is true, this is a massive disgrace for what could have been a hipster brand of firearms. I've shot a CZ-75 before and consider that line of pistols to be excellent shooters, very accurate, and worthy of other wonder 9s like the Beretta M9 series. Everyone and their mother knows about SIG (A once reputable German/Swiss manufacturer now run as an American company under L&O Holding). The P320 is the one exception where normies are actually right about the gun shooting on it's own. I heard numerous claims of the sear being out of spec, losing spec over a period of time, parts made in India, and just having a light trigger with no trigger safety. The fact that the company is having issues with the M17 and M18 handguns (i.e. the SIG P320 but for the military) and the M7 which was supposed to replace the M4 as my country's service weapon is also having some issues of its own accord. SIG is a sign of enshitification that's been plaguing everything in the world right now.
Now to the most recent controversy regarding Glock. Honestly, I know Glocks aren't the most exciting pistols out there but I used to have a lot of respect for the brand. Everyone says it but it's absolutely true. The Glock is like the Toyota Corolla of firearms. Simple, reliable, and easy. I would have preferred if our military adopted the Glock 19x (right after the Beretta M9A3) over the P320. Pretty much every manufacture on planet earth has taken cues from Glock to make their own Polymer handguns. Some better than an OEM glock and others more economically feasible. Of course, people like to complain that they haven't innovated the Glock design since the 80s and 90s but then again, why fix something that isn't broken. Granted, they aren't perfect and I feel like my hands are too small to shoot a Glock 19 Gen 3 comfortably but it's still a great example of form and function over substance. For you average Mil/LE wagie or for your average gun owner that just needs something that just werks, Glock is perfectly adequate for them. Even for firearm enthusiasts, the nice thing about Glocks is that they have the biggest aftermarket out there so you can customize it however you like within the specs of the 3rd Generation. You can outright buy Glock Gen 3 clones for dirt cheap. But don't let my praise of Glock fool you into thinking I'm not partial to denouncing them.
As of October 20, 2025, Glock has announced that they will be discontinuing the Gen 3 line up after the fact that the state of California has banned the Gen 3 Glock. What for? Gang bangers. The Gen 3 model of Glocks have a removable back plate on the slide and some gangs and criminals (who never follow gun laws ie look at Chicago which has some of the worst gun violence in America despite being in a strict blue state in regard to firearm laws) have taken a liking to putting switches on their pistols. These switches used to be easily obtainable through sites like Aliexpress and Wish and they could even be 3D printed. You put them on the slide of your Glock 19 and this enables the pistol to empty the entire magazine with a single trigger pull (brrraap). Vid related:
This has been a thing since the Obama administration. I suppose the real danger behind an automatic Glock is the fact that most gangsters aren't exactly expert marksmen and more than likely, a drive-by with one of these things will usually result in some bystander getting shot instead of the opps on O-block. Owning or manufacturing a glock switch is illegal and considered a machine gun by ATF definitions but that doesn't stop gang bangers from using them. So rather than doing something to stop the culture of violence in regards to drug trafficking, economic measures to promote better opportunities in America which are dwindling by month, or putting harsher measures on ruthless gangs, the governments of many states like California are attacking responsible gun owners and Glock itself.
Rather than stand their ground and protect their consumers that aren't law enforcement or military, Glock instead caved in and discontinued the entire line (With the exception of the single stack models) opting to make a Glock V with some "improvements". For Californian glock owners, owning a Glock gen 3 would now be considered owning a machine gun, regardless if you have a switch on it or not.

It’s a real shame. But just goes to show that the powers at be can disarm you through so many ways it’s not even funny. Not like it matters anymore since everything is tracked and if the government were to consider you an obstacle, they will go through any means to take you down. Owning firearms isn’t enough anymore in this deep state. But I digress.
At the end of the day, I can’t speak about Beretta guns made in Tennessee but B(ased)eretta and you can’t spell Walther without the W!
