Misc Rants
Thoughts on Food
Not really a rant of some sort but I think the topic of food is something I should cover (as someone who doesn’t like cooking to begin with). I guess if someone was looking for a husband who is good at cooking, I’m the last person to even be a consideration. That’s not to say I can put together my own meals. Thing is, I keep my meals simple. Usually a simple sandwich, hot dog, steamed rice, tea, slices of fruit or veggies, and whatever left overs I didn’t eat from yesterday. I don’t like eating out because food usually very excessive and expensive (with the exception of certain holidays). What’s all this shit about appetizers, main dish, and dessert all in one meal? That’s like an entire daily calorie overload. Fucking Americans I swear.
With that said, I do have some preferences in terms of food. I can say without hesitation that Italian food is one of the best internationally. If I were to have some sort of birthday party, I would want it at a genuine Italian restaurant. None of that Olive Garden bullshit. Chinese food (outside of mainlander wet market shit lmao) is very good and tasty. It’s especially one the best take out foods out there. I’d eat take out over fast food any day. Sea food like shrimp, crabs, and tuna are pretty good too, considering I grew up on the coast and thus, more exposure to sea food. Mexican food can be alright if it’s done right. Dry foods are what I generally prefer. More on that in a bit. I’m not lactose intolerant so I do love cheesy food assuming it’s not overly cheesy. Jerky is probably one of my favorite snacks along with some fruits like bananas and apples. Coconut anything is GOAT. Carrots are the best veggies in my opinion. I fucking love carrots.
I cannot stand overly greasy food. Food that is too greasy tastes like puke, feels like puke, and makes me want to puke. Greasy foods aren’t even healthy for you to begin with. Fuck BBQ culture in the south for having to make everything so greasy. It’s much better to eat anything BBQ when it’s made dry. I also can’t stand spices, peppers, and any dressings that are supposed to enhance the food. Spicy stuff in particular is torture in not only physically killing my taste buds but also my throat. I hate spicy foods like I hate my own life. I also hate food that is served when it’s really hot. I have a very low tolerance when it comes to heat. If I am going to have food served, I’d prefer it to be mildly warm at most. That way, I don’t have to wait for my food to cool down while I am starving. Some people like to eat their food hot. What’s wrong with them? I don’t know. I guess it’s also worth noting I am one of those people that don’t mind eating my food cold. Sometimes, I’ll warm some leftovers in the microwave but sometimes I won’t even bother.
I’ve been told in the past that I should perhaps look into developing some cooking skills in my spare time. What for? Especially in these days when it seems like the price of food is going to skyrocket at any minute. I can understand trying to cook something like raw meat when times get tough, but I’m not trying to compete with master chef here. It’s not like I have friends or relatives that are going to be guinea pigs for my food experiments. Besides, I don’t make my life entirely revolve around food like some people do. I don’t work for the Travel Channel so why should I try to emulate something that’s going to give you bad cholesterol in the first place. I stick to simple meals, simple diets, and don’t have to worry about “Oh, did I put too much spices on my steaks?” Honestly, fuck off with that bloat.
